Merchant help
Getting on the map, writing your offer, and what happens when someone walks in holding one. Anything not answered here: support@whitefang.ai.
Need help right away? Email support@whitefang.ai. We respond within 1 business day, Mon–Fri 9am–6pm ET.
1. What being on the map is
A listing is your shop on the WhiteFang map: your name, your category, where you are, and one offer with your conditions on it. Shoppers browse the map, open your listing, and claim your offer. They come to you to use it.
It is free, it stays free, and it connects to nothing. There is no app to install, no point-of-sale integration, and no till to change. If you already sell on Shopify there is a separate paid app that automates offers against your order history. It is not required, and it is not what this page is about.
2. Getting listed
The join form is four short steps. You can go back at any point; what you have typed is kept if you close the tab and come back.
- Your shop. Name and category. The category sets your pin colour and is how shoppers filter the map.
- Where you are. Start typing your street address and pick it from the list, then correct anything that is off. The neighborhood matters: shoppers browse by it, and it is the “Welcome to…” line on your listing.
- Your offer. What you are giving, plus a short description of the shop. See section 3.
- Logo and confirmation. Upload a square logo or let us draw one from your initials, then enter your email.
We email you a one-tap sign-in link. There is no password. Opening that link confirms the listing and puts you on the map straight away, so it is worth opening on whichever device is nearest. If nothing arrives within a couple of minutes, check spam, then use the resend button on the confirmation screen.
3. Choosing your offer
An offer is one of four kinds. Pick the one that matches what you already do at the counter. You are not being asked to invent a discount programme.
| Kind | You enter | It reads |
|---|---|---|
| Amount off | A dollar amount and what it goes toward | $5 toward a lobster sandwich |
| Percent off | A percentage and what it applies to | 20% off pastries |
| Something free | The item, and the condition if there is one | Free cookie with any purchase |
| Buy one, get one | The item it applies to | Buy one coffee, get one free |
The line under the fields shows exactly what a shopper will read, and updates as you type. If none of the four fits (a bundle, a happy hour, something seasonal), fill in Say it your own way and that sentence replaces the generated one.
Only the dollar kind is filterable by value. A shopper who drags the map's amount filter is asking for dollars off, so percent, free-item and buy-one-get-one listings are left out of that particular filter, but they still appear everywhere else on the map.
Put your conditions in the offer itself. “Free cookie with any purchase” and “20% off pastries, before 11am” are both fine. The shopper reads the offer before they claim it, so anything you write there is what they have agreed to.
4. Your discount code
A discount code is optional. If you set one, it appears on the listing after a shopper claims the offer, and it is what they show you when they pay. If you leave it blank, they simply mention WhiteFang at the counter instead.
Use a code if you want the offer to be enterable somewhere: at your own online checkout, or typed into your till as a manual discount. Skip it if a nod from the person behind the counter is enough.
5. What a shopper sees
Your pin sits on the map in your category's colour. Tapping it opens your listing: logo, shop name, neighborhood, your description, and the offer.
To claim the offer a shopper enters their email and confirms it. There is no app to download and no account to set up first. Once confirmed, the offer goes into their wallet along with a six-character reference, and your discount code if you set one. Shoppers keep the offers they have claimed in that wallet, so they can come back to yours later.
When they claim, they are asked whether you may email them about the offer. It is ticked by default and they can untick it, and they can change their mind later from their own settings, so the people on your list are the ones who chose you. Anyone who said no is a number on your dashboard and nothing else.
6. When someone comes in
They show you the offer on their phone, with a six-character reference underneath it, something like 7QF3KM.
- Give them the offer as written, the way you would honour any coupon.
- Open your dashboard, type the reference into Someone is at the counter, and press Mark as used.
Marking it used is what stops the same offer being redeemed twice. It is also the only record you have of the visit, so it is worth doing while they are still standing there. Nothing about the sale itself goes through WhiteFang. You ring it up exactly as you always do.
If a reference does not work, it has usually already been marked used, or it belongs to a different shop. Email support with the reference and we will tell you which.
7. Editing and pausing
Everything on your listing is editable from your dashboard, and you get back in with the same one-tap email link you used to join.
- Your offer. Change the kind, the amount, the wording, or the code at any time. Offers already claimed keep the terms they were claimed under, and changing the listing does not rewrite someone's wallet.
- Listing details. Name, category, description, address, neighborhood, logo and contact details.
- Visibility. One switch takes you off the map and one puts you back. Use it for holidays, renovations, or a week when you are too busy. Pausing is not deleting: your listing and its history stay where they are.
- Traction. How many people opened your listing and how many claimed the offer.
To remove your listing and your data entirely, email support@whitefang.ai from the address on the account.
8. Cost and commitment
Being on the map is free. There is no card on file, no monthly fee, no commission on what a shopper spends with you, and no minimum period. The only cost is the offer you chose to give.
There is no contract to sign, but listing does mean the Merchant Terms apply, chiefly that you honour the offer as you wrote it while it is live. You can pause or remove the listing whenever you like; offers already claimed should still be honoured until they are used or expire.
What we do with your data is in the Privacy Policy. A shopper’s email address reaches you only where they agreed to it at the moment they claimed, and it leaves your list the moment they change their mind.
